The Engineers’ Club is offering courses which meet the needs of many practicing professionals.n today’s rapidly changing world, it is mandatory that we maintain our skills. One effective and enjoyable way to accomplish this goal is the educational program offered by the Engineers’ Club. We can exchange ideas,hare experiences and learn from experts in various fields. You can receive 20 hours of instruction for less than you would commonly pay for a one day seminar. One evening a week means that you do not have to take valuable time from the job, nor need you make great personal sacrifices to enhance your career. Make the commitment now to invest in your professional development.
· The Spring Registration period is open.
· Engineers’ Club Classes will usually be held in center city Philadelphia. Other locations may be selected to accommodate a firm’s on-site program, or for the convenience of the students and/or faculty. Remember, those courses held in center city Philadelphia are accessible by public transportation whichaves the cost of parking.middot; Engineers’ Club Courses will usually meet for two to two and one-half hours one evening a week Monday through Friday, and the majority of the courses will begin the third or third week in March 2008. Two (2) Continuing Education Units (CEU) will be granted, under the criteria of the International association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET), formerly the Counsel on the CEU for 8 and 10 session courses, and one Continuing Education Unit will be granted for 4 and 5 session courses. Tuition for Engineers’ Club courses, which includes the registration deposit, texts and referenceaterials, is $275.00 to $700.00. The $50.00 registration deposit per course, is refundable if requested not less than 7 days prior to the start of the course(s) or by special arrangement. Dues paying Engineers' Club members receive a 10% discount on tuition. Registration, inquiries, and detailed course descriptions for Engineers’ Club courses can bebtained from Mr. Thomas B. · Important! Upon request, the 2008 dues and application costs for initial membership(complimentary) in The Engineers’ Club of Philadelphia will be waived for those taking an Engineers’ Club course.
· Educational courses sponsored by The Engineers’ Club of Philadelphia are available to all interested individuals regardless of race, religion, age, sex or national origin.
CONSTRUCTION
C-1 THE 2006 INTERNATIONAL BUILDING CODE - (10 weeks - $650 - Start
Wednesday 3/19/08 - 6:00 to 8:30 PM) - Primarily covers in depth the non-structural
provisions of the "2006 International Building Code®" with a structural and materials
overview. This code has been adopted as the state code for Pennsylvania, New Jersey,
New York, Maryland and two counties in Delaware. The 2006 International Building
Code® will be provided as a text.

C-2 HOME AND BUILDING INSPECTION - (10 weeks - $550 - Start Monday 3/17/08 -
6:00 to 8:00 PM) - Things you need to know to inspect all types of external, internal
and structural systems. A text, supplemental information and field trip will be provided.

C-3 CONSTRUCTION PROJECT MANAGEMENT - (8 weeks - $550 - Start Wednesday
3/19/08 - 6:00 to 8:30 PM) - Develops a comprehensive management system for
planning, scheduling, estimating costs and financial control of construction projects.

C-4 OWNERS REPRESENTATIVE - METHODS & PROCEDURES (9 weeks - $550 - Start
Thursday 3/20/08 - 6:30 to 8:30 PM) - A comprehensive review of the methods and
procedures required to be an owners representative for a construction project.

C-5 CONSTRUCTION ADMINISTRATION FOR DESIGN PROFESSIONALS (9 weeks -
$550 - Start Thursday 3/20/08 - 6:30 to 8:30 PM) - Will walk participants through the
construction portion of a typical project emphasizing the responsibilities, issues and role of the design professional.

C-6 CONSTRUCTION COST ESTIMATING (4 weeks - $275 - Start Tuesday 3/18/08 -
6:00 to 8:30 PM) - A comprehensive review of the methods and procedures used for
estimating construction costs

ELECTRICAL
E-1 ADVANCED PROTECTIVE RELAYING - (10 weeks - $550 - Start Tuesday 3/18/08 -
7:00 to 9:00 PM) - Covers transformers, motors, generators, buses and incoming line
protection specific to industrial and commercial applications.

E-2 FUNDAMENTALS OF INSTRUMENTATION AND CONTROL - (8 weeks - $550 -
Start Tuesday 3/18/08 - 6:30 to 8:30 PM) - Presents the fundamentals of
instrumentation and process control as found in industrial plants.

E-3 FIBER OPTICS & NETWORK WIRING - (12 weeks - $700 - Start Tuesday 3/18/08 -
6:30 to 8:30 PM) - A hands on course on the installation, trouble shooting and repair of
small fiber optic networks. This course satisfies the requirements for students who
want to take the certification test for fiber optic installers.

FIRE PROTECTION ENGINEERING
F-1 SMOKE MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS - (10 weeks - $550 - Start Monday 3/17/08 -
7:00 to 9:00 PM) - An in depth review of the design of smoke management systems for
buildings with particular emphasis on NFPA standards 92A and 92B.

underground.

M-1 HEATING & VENTILATION- (10 weeks - $650 - Start Wednesday 3/19/08 - 7:00 to
9:00 PM) - Covers building heating codes, heat loss calculations, heating and ventilation systems design, and equipment selection.

M-2 BASIC PIPING DESIGN - (10 weeks - $550 - Start Thursday 3/20/08- 7:00 to 9:00
PM) - Basic theory and application of piping design found in boilers, air-conditioning
systems, refineries, nuclear and fossil fuel power plants, chemical processing,
metallurgical industries and drainage systems.

M-3 AIR CONDITIONING- (10 weeks - $550 - Start Thursday 3/20/08 - 7:00 to 9:00 PM)
- Covers building cooling codes, heat gain calculations, cooling and air conditioning
systems design, and equipment selection. Successful completion of Engineers’ Club
Heating & Ventilation Course is a prerequisite.
