What is an Engineer?

As an engineer, we all get asked - "What is an engineer?" or "What do engineers do?" The simple answer is that engineers design the built environment. But students, parents, and educators interested in engineering need more than that. A listing of websites that work to answer those questions is available here. This is just the beginning of the development of this resource; if you find websites you'd like added to this list, email them to Susan Best. A list of local Universities which offer engineering programs can be found here.

Newspapers in Education
A new program of the Engineers' Club is a supplement in the editions of the Philadelphia Inquirer, both paper and electronic, that are distributed to over 40,000 students and teachers in the region. We have been joined by 15 area engineering technical societies in sponsoring this supplement, called "Build Your Future with a Career in Engineering."

The first notice of this supplement was in the Arts & Entertainment Section of the February 19th Philadelphia Inquirer, with additional notices on Tuesdays between February 21 and April 10. These In Paper Features were generally in the magazine section and described different types of engineering and are posted below.

The supplement was in the Wednesday, April 25 edition of the papers delivered to the schools and in the Inquirer's digital edition available to the public. The supplement is available here.
