In this class, Marc Faulkner will review the Pennsylvania Uniform Construction Code (PA UCC) in general and provide an overall view of the role of the Review and Advisory Council (RAC) in the code adoption process. Information on final state-wide code adoption will be presented and include specifics on local enforcement. The differences between an opt-in (electing to locally enforce the PA UCC) and opt-out (electing to not locally enforce the PA UCC) municipality will be briefly covered. The presentation will also include procedures and links necessary to determine permit requirements and research changes and/or amendments to the PA UCC that may exist at the local level. The duties of the Building Code Official and roles of the third-party agencies will also be covered. Applicable codes: Pennsylvania Uniform Construction Code, 2018 International Building Code.
