Former Philly SWE President Heather Bernardin will be presenting her Influencing Without Authority talk. There are many situations in our careers where we need to influence a team of people who are not your direct reports. You may be in a situation where you are a team leader, technical lead, consultant or even a new person in the team. How do you influence the conversation or project when you can’t just say I’m the boss do it my way? Influence is a balance of persuasion and resistance. This presentation will help you understand the factors involved with influencing and give you tools to present your ideas and concerns so that they are heard and considered by the team.
