“Secrets of the Schuylkill” Boat Tour

Thursday, August 22, 2019

Please join the Engineers’ Club of Philadelphia for a tour highlighting projects and recent improvements on the Schuylkill Banks park and trail network along the Schuylkill River through Center City.  We will be guided by Club Past President Joseph Syrnick, President and CEO of the Schuylkill River Development Corporation/Schuylkill Banks.

Schuylkill River Park rose from previously-underutilized and undeveloped wastelands along the east bank of the Schuylkill River and has become one of our area’s popular attractions and recreational areas over the past twenty years.  The Trail ties into the Fairmount Park system at its northern end at the Waterworks, near the Art Museum, and continues south to approximately Christian Street, with a direct ramp connection to the South Street Bridge and a unique award-winning “boardwalk” over the River in the vicinity of Spruce Street.

Our boat tour will highlight the Schuylkill River and both completed and recent projects that are part of the Schuylkill Banks.  It will cover the engineering challenges       faced in the development, design and construction of various                                                                              elements of Schuylkill River Park.

The cost of the tour is $20.  Attendees should meet at the Walnut Street dock at 5:15 PM.  The boat will depart promptly at 5:30.  The tour will last for approximately one hour and will be conducted rain or shine.

The tour will be limited to twenty (20) participants.

One professional development hour (PDH) will be available to attendees upon successful completion of a quiz covering items discussed on the tour.

Please RSVP and pay for the tour at   Reservations are due by Friday, August 16.
