Crosswalks Thu, Aug 22, 2019 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM EDT The purpose of this webinar is to review and understand crosswalk and the needs of pedestrians in the modern transportation environment. The webinar will review national and Pennsylvania pedestrian safety data, pedestrian mobility characteristics, and pedestrian behaviors. Next, the webinar will examine the national and PennDOT guidelines for crosswalks. Lastly, the webinar will review FHWA and PennDOT programs to improve pedestrian safety and discuss how those elements can be implemented locally at crosswalks. The webinar objectives are: - Examine the components of the pedestrian environment, including safety statistics, facilities, behavior and characteristics. - Review PennDOT and national regulations, guidelines, and research for implementation of crosswalks. - Apply proven safety countermeasures to improve walkability and pedestrian safety.
