Course Outline: The National Electrical Code (NEC®), which is revised every three years, has included many new requirements to enhance the reliability and safety of Emergency Power Systems that provide egress lighting and maintain the operation of equipment essential for personnel safety within buildings. This course will describe the differences between Articles 700. 701 and 702 in the 1993 NEC® and in the 2020 NEC® and the significant cost implications that owner’s will be faced with when retrofitting their 35 year old buildings.

Joseph F, Maida, PE has a BSEE and MSEE from Drexel University, has PE licenses in 22 states in the USA and a P.Eng. license in Alberta, Canada, was the Electrical Engineer on the first PA Uniform Construction Code Review and Advisory Board. is LEED accredited and has engineered and designed electrical distribution systems for over 47 years. Joseph, the president and founder of Maida Engineering, Inc., worked on numerous types of commercial, industrial and residential projects in many countries for buildings, processes, railroads, manufacturing lines, amusement attractions and more. Following are some of his award winning projects.
