Boeing V22 Future Factory Presentation & Tour
6:00 PM to 8:00 PM
Learn how the former steel foundry was transformed into a modern dual line aircraft facility supporting both V22 Osprey new production as well as the V-22 Common Configuration - Readiness and Modernization (CC-RAM) program.
The 300,000 ft sq foundry building was originally constructed in 1928-30 for General Steel Castings . After purchasing the Vertol Aircraft Corporation in 1960, Boeing converted the foundry building to H47 Chinook parts production. By 2000 the building was no longer was needed, with many Chinook parts now sourced from the outside. With the award of the NAVAIR CC-RAM program in 2017, Boeing decided to provide a common location for both current V22 production as well as the modernization of the 130 previously produced aircraft already in service. This revitalization project breathed new life into a 90 year old, disused facility.
Lead design firm Gannett Fleming provided the MEP/Structural design package. STV provided construction management services. Skanska provided GC construction services and Anthony Biddle Contractors provided site & civil construction services. MBP was the commissioning agent, and Hill International provided auditing service for the project contract.
The 52 ft high bay area was given a complete makeover with new flat concrete flooring, offices, LED lighting, HVAC, electrical substations, insulated siding, fire alarm and public address systems. The presentation will highlight the construction challenges and solutions needed to bring this project to a successful conclusion.
