Dr. Jonathan Upchurch, a leader in ITE and the National Committee on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, will share his extensive experience on the MUTCD.There are over 3,100 counties in the United States. That's over 3,100 different versions of geography, transportation needs, and transportation solutions. Dr. Upchurch has visited over 2,700 of those counties and observed a wide range of practices in traffic engineering, signing, and marking.
This presentation will highlight the range of practices; differences in practice between states, regions, and locales; and some local ideas that are worthy of more widespread adoption. The presenter will share what he has seen and invite you to decide whether the sign designs are innovative or merely unusual, and whether they are compliant with the MUTCD. This event will be highly interactive.
You will come away from this presentation with some new knowledge about provisions in the MUTCD and it will stimulate your thinking about innovations and communicating with road users.
