Project Description

To improve the overall traffic operations and general safety, the South Jersey Transportation Authority (SJTA) is advancing the Preliminary Engineering Phase of the widening of the Atlantic City Expressway (ACE). The project will add a third lane in each direction from milepost (MP) 31.6 (Interchange 31) to the western terminus at State Route 42 MP 44.2 Interchange 44) in Washington Township, Gloucester County, and Gloucester and Winslow Township, Camden County. Upon the completion of this project, the entire ACE corridor will be a continuous third-lane section. The project will include the improvement of two mainline bridges over Route 42 and two mainline bridges over the Great Egg Harbor River, and the widening of the Rt 42 Bridge over Sicklerville Road. The project will provide operational and safety improvements for future travelers while aiming to minimize environmental, right-of-way, and structural impacts. Input will be obtained through out the project process from the traveling public, stakeholders, and local officials.

Stephen Mazur, PE, PP, CME, PTOE – South Jersey Transportation Authority, Chief Engineer/Director of Engineering

Photo of SpeakerStephen M. Mazur, PE, PP, PTOE, CME serves as Chief Engineer/Director of Engineering for the Authority. He is responsible for overseeing all engineering activities of the Authority, including the Atlantic City Expressway and the Atlantic City International Airport. The duties include environmental compliance, planning, design, and construction of Authority capital projects and facilities, including the coordination of activities between the Authority and its consultants. He also oversees the Authority’s Permitting and Transportation Asset Management Programs as well as all grants with the Federal Aviation Administration’s Airport Improvement Program. Additional responsibilities include serving as the Authority’s representative as a voting member on the Policy Board and Technical Advisory Committees of the South Jersey Transportation Planning Organization (SJTPO) Mr. Mazur also represents the Executive Director as a voting member of the National Aviation Research; Technology Park (NARTP), where he also serves as the Park’s Treasurer. Prior to joining the Authority in 2014, Mr. Mazur worked in the private sector for 15 years in various engineering and management roles including engineering consulting services for municipal government, municipal land use boards, as well as several private developers including a large health care organization. Mr. Mazur holds Bachelor of Civil Engineering and Master of Civil Engineering Degrees from Villanova University. He is a Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) and Licensed Professional Planner (P.P.) in New Jersey. He is also certified as a Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE), and a Certified Municipal Engineer (CME).

Marc Preim, PE – STV

Photo of SpeakerMarc B. Preim, PE serves as the Vice President and Philadelphia Area Manager for STV’s Transportation Northeast operating group. He oversees a multidiscipline team of professionals and is responsible for the operations and business development of his region. Marc is also a Senior Project Manager and a licensed professional engineer in NJ, NY, and PA. His background includes work on projects for agencies such as the South Jersey Transportation Authority, Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, New Jersey Department of Transportation, New Jersey Turnpike Authority, Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission, SEPTA, Philadelphia International Airport, Delaware River Port Authority, and local counties and municipalities. Marc also serves as the Chair of the ACEC-NJ South Jersey Transportation Authority Committee and the Vice Chair of the ACEC-NJ Delaware River Port Authority Committee. He is a board member of the March of Dimes Transportation, Building, and Construction Luncheon in Philadelphia. Marc and his wife Catherine reside in southern New Jersey with their son Ethan and daughter Chloe
