Course Overview:

This course provides an overview of the key requirements in Article 517 for Health Care Occupancies. A primary focus is placed on the applicable definitions and installation requirements encountered in all health care occupancies. Requirements for branch circuit conductors in patient care spaces and other wiring and protection requirements are covered to eliminate NEC violations in the rough-in stage. Applicability of Part II for Wiring and Protection for spaces/areas and venues covered and not covered is discussed comprehensively. Different types of patient care spaces are explained to clearly differentiate between Category 1, 2 and 3 spaces. Requirements for the Essential electrical system are covered with a focus on separation of branches and applicability of Part III with respect to the type and size of health care occupancies.
