The Chinatown Stitch

Centering Community within a Transformational Transportation (1 PDH)

For nearly twenty years, the Chinatown community has identified short-term and long-term strategies for mitigating the harms of the Vine Street Expressway. Broad community support and advocacy helped prioritize municipal funding to determine the feasibility of capping the expressway and addressing safety concerns along the Vine Street local lanes.

This presentation will discuss the centering of the community in the decision-making process for large-scale transportation infrastructure projects and highlight strategies for sustained public engagement as part of successful project delivery.
