Program Summary
This presentation will describe the path taken by Envision between 2008 to 2018 to its current Cloud environment of our P6 database hosted by Oracle. The presentation will include a summary and examples of how P6 was setup on individual computers each with a standalone database, the typical procedure of sharing projects between different users, and the issues encountered as a result. Our discussion will detail the initiative to migrate the P6 database to a Cloud environment with an overall lower cost than previous support resources, transitioning the responsibility of P6 database maintenance from internal Envision IT personnel to Oracle technical representatives, dramatically reducing database down time, and increasing productivity of not only schedulers, but allowing IT personnel to focus on non-Oracle related IT issues and directives.
Anthony Duca is a Senior Consultant and provides expert training, project controls and CPM scheduling services to clients. He has 24 years of specialized experience in the design, development, and delivery of advanced Oracle® Project Management Software. Mr. Duca was previously a Training Consultant for Primavera Systems, Inc., the actual developer of the project management software. Mr. Duca is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and he applies his diverse skill-set to developing concise CPM schedules, tailored to meet the specific needs of each project. Mr. Duca’s unique advanced level of expertise in working with the software abundantly qualifies him to perform detailed schedule, cost, resources, and risk assessments and analyses.
